July 1, Lahan : A junior police officer here has turned the gun on himself and committed suicide. July 1, Palpa : The Nepali Congress candidates have been elected to the post of chairperson and deputy chairperson of Mathagadhi rural municipality in Palpa district in the second phase local level elections held on June 28. Santosh Kumar Thapa was elected the chairman with 6,096 votes while his closest contender Bimal Kafle of the CPN (UML) got 4,021 votes. July 1, Tehrathum : Three persons of the same family were killed in a landslide at Amdim of Myanglung Municipality-5 of the district last night, police said. According to police, the deceased are Kumar Sodemba, 50, her 12-year old granddaughter Preeti Sodemba and 9-year-old grandson Prem Sodemba. They were killed when a landslide buried their house. June 27, Bhaktapur : A local Siddhartha petrol pump at Madhyapur Thimi municipality-1 caught fire Tuesday evening. Four persons were injured in the fire at the petrol pump run by Dhruba Maharjan. The injured were Sita Tamang, her spouse Ram Tamang, Nirajan Uprety and helper to tanker driver Pawan Shrestha. Female rhino found dead

June 26, Chitwan : A female rhino was found dead today at Kumroj Buffer Zone Community Forest in eastern sector of the Chitwan National Park (CNP). CNP Information Officer and Assistant Conservation Officer Nurendra Aryal said that the sick one-horned rhino of around 30 years died at 11:00 am this afternoon. Stating that the rhino was found dead with its fractured neck, senior veterinarian at the CNP Kamal Gaire added that the female rhino died after collapsing on the ground while running away during mating. Some days ago, a dead calf of rhino was also found near Icharni river of the same community forest while devouring by a crocodile.
